Our Program 

 

      In an Angus world where the goals and types of cattle can vary and change drastically, we on the Triangle S Ranch strive to maintain a balance in those variations. A balance of all traits and a focus on two main factors we believe keep us and our customers in business: fertility and functionality. Our goal is to create and produce an animal that can go out and accomplish those two objectives year in and year out. 

 

      Fertility in our cows is the ability for that cow to breed up in a set breeding season as a yearling heifer and every year after while raising her calf to weaning. If a cow should come up open after the breeding season, she will be sold and no longer be a part of the program. Fertility in our bulls is for that animal to be structurally sound and capable of settling pregnancies in females. Bulls are developed to give them the best opportunity to be a sound breeder as a yearling bull and continue working for multiple years.

      Functionality is a broad term we use to describe an animal that can go out in any environment and do its job. From first calf heifers being handled every day through barns and calving lots to test their disposition; to cows calving out on their own in big pastures with only cedar trees and their mothering abilities to protect and provide for their baby calves. Pairs are sorted and hauled out to a variety of summer pasture environments to fend for themselves with no creep. We test these animals in situations similar to commercial producers and allow the cream to rise to the top!
